Description

As a Medical Technician at North Country HealthCare AZ, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of our clinic and the delivery of high-quality patient care. From assisting with patient registration and scheduling to rooming patients and obtaining their medical history, your role will be vital in ensuring that each patient receives the care they need.

Duties

  • Assists clinic health care providers in providing direct patient care by rooming patients, obtaining patient history and reason for seeking care in clinic and telehealth Appointments. Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Gathers necessary vital signs and other visit specific patient details and completes entry in EHR for provider's review and signature for entry into patient chart.
  • Completes patient in house testing or care such as: blood draws, capillary sticks, throat/nasal swabs, basic wound care, EKGs, removing sutures/staples, ear lavage, eye exams for well child visits, CDL's, and sports physicals.
  • Uses clinical knowledge to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol. Completes necessary documentation (EHR/Incident report) as needed.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly cleaning and maintenance on CLIA waived lab equipment, autoclave and medical instruments. Keeps sharps containers/ biohazard bags emptied and prepared for pickup.
  • Handles court ordered or occupational health ordered specimen collections and documentation as instructed.
  • Assists in registration of patients, completes EHR data entry. Supports front office staff with patient registration, scheduling, and answering phones as needed.

Education and Experience

High school, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc. plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Diploma of completion of education or training as a medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, EMT or a related field recognized by the National Center for Competency testing.
